Dance occurs in time and space simultaneously. The interest of this project focuses on the moments in movement that have been elongated. This stretch in time becomes an alternate view on the artistic experession of dance itself. In the context of “Time Fiction”, time laps photography reveals moments often invisible to the naked eye. Underscoring the duration of an instance, the viewer is invited to get lost in the otherwise latent forms the body draws in movement. The film is both a contemplation of the actual physicalities of dance and a transcendent pathway into engaging with the constructive nature of the visual world. May you find a hithertofore undiscovered visual delight in the shapes and forms the human body prescribes.
The Fetish of the Shanghaicycle @ Power Station of Art, Shanghai
In collaboration with Dieter Lang & Stephan Trimmel
In the context of this joint project of Tongji University and University of Applied Arts Vienna we entertained a few ideas to persue for a Stephan to take to Shanghai. How do people relate to their bikes? How do they cherish certain parts more than others? Or imbue them with meaning beyond the sheer utilitarianism of a bicycle? It is easy to develop a fetishistic relationship within our consumer culture, hence this short film that highlights the sensual qualities of the rigit mechanics of the bike. A hot film using a cold medium ensues.
